Start here

Choose Start learning on Home, or All lessons → 1 Beads and digits. Read the explanation, choose Next Step to follow the demonstration, then Try 3 Checks. All eight lessons are available; start with the first two if an abacus is new to you.

Point at a bead using either Touch controller. Press and release the index trigger once to slide it. Holding the trigger does not repeat moves. Several lower beads may move together; this is expected.

How do I read the board?

The rods are hundreds, tens and ones, from left to right. On each rod, the upper bead counts as five of that rod's units when moved down toward the middle bar. Each lower bead in the group raised toward the bar counts as one of that rod's units. Beads moved away from the bar do not count.

Choose Clear before each example. For 7, use the rightmost rod: move the upper bead down, then raise two lower beads. Five plus two is seven. Clear again for 204, then raise two lower beads on the left rod and all four lower beads on the right rod; leave the middle rod at zero and all upper beads away from the bar.

What happens after I make 7 in Free Play?

The readout shows 7. Free Play has no goal, answer checker, automatic next step or score. Try making 8 next, choose Clear to start again, or use Undo to reverse a move. If you want a task and a checked answer, use a lesson or Practice.

Your Free Play board is saved between visits. Show Value / Hide Value controls its number display.

How does Practice work?

From Home, choose Practice, an operation, and a level. Foundations uses direct bead moves with numbers up to 99. All Basics uses numbers up to 999 and can include exchanges, carrying and borrowing. Each session has ten questions.

The board starts at the first number in the question. Make the change on the board, then choose Check Answer. A wrong answer lets you try again. After a correct answer, choose Next. Restart Exercise restores the question's starting number; Clear sets the board to zero.

Show Value, Hint and Show Answer count as help. Results count answers correct on the first check and questions where help was used separately; these counts can overlap. An unfinished session can be continued using Resume practice on Home or Resume saved session in Practice. Abandon saved session… deliberately discards that session.

Why does the next rod not change automatically?

Moving a bead changes only that rod. You perform carrying and borrowing yourself. Lessons 7 and 8 demonstrate these steps.

The board is in an awkward position, or the text is too small

Sit or stand comfortably, look where you want the workspace, then choose Recenter. Open Settings to adjust board size and text size. Sound volume and haptics can also be changed there. Stop and take a break if you feel uncomfortable.

A controller is not selecting things

Wake the controller and make sure normal headset tracking is available. Release the trigger fully, point at the object, then press again. After returning from the Meta menu or a tracking interruption, release and press again before the next move. Settings → Replay controller tutorial repeats the controls guide.

How do I save or delete progress?

Settings and learning progress save automatically on your headset. There is no in-app account or cloud sync. Do not clear the app's data or uninstall it as a first troubleshooting step if you want to keep your progress.

Settings → Reset Progress… → Delete learning progress clears learning records, the saved practice session and Free Play board, while preserving sound, haptic and size preferences. To remove those preferences as well, use the headset's app-data controls. See the privacy policy for details.
