Floorline privacy policy

In short.

Floorline does not access your customers or your orders. It reads your products, prices, costs, discounts and markets to check your pricing, keeps what it needs to do that, and deletes everything it holds for your store 48 hours after you uninstall it.

What the app reads.

Through Shopify’s API, with the permissions you approve when you install it:

• Products, variants, prices, compare-at prices and collections, to work out each product’s floor, check discounts against it and watch for price mistakes.
• Unit costs and stock levels, for cost-based floors and to find stock that isn’t selling.
• Discounts, to work out the lowest price your discounts can produce.
• Markets and market prices, to check prices in each market you sell in.
• Your store’s name, contact email, currency, time zone and Shopify plan, to set the app up, show amounts correctly and send alerts.

Floorline does not request access to orders, customers or any other protected customer data.

What the app changes.

Only what you ask for, and only after Shopify asks you for the matching permission: restoring a price, saving costs you enter, applying or undoing a price suggestion you choose, deactivating a discount, and, if you turn them on, the checkout guard’s checkout rule and the code check’s discount. For the checkout guard, it stores each variant’s floor in a field on the variant that only Floorline uses. If you allow it, it also marks price restores and applied suggestions on your Shopify analytics charts.

What the app keeps.

• Copies of the product, price, cost, discount and market data above, and a daily history of each price, used for restores and price checks.
• Your floor rules, exceptions and settings.
• The email addresses you choose to receive alerts. Until you choose, alerts go to your store’s contact email.
• A Slack incoming-webhook address, if you add one. It is stored encrypted.
• An activity log of actions taken by the app or in the app, such as price restores and settings changes, with the Shopify ID of the staff member who made each one.
• Short-term server logs of requests and errors, for security and troubleshooting. They are rotated automatically.

At checkout.

If you turn on the checkout guard, a Shopify Function runs inside Shopify’s checkout and compares each line’s price after discounts with the variant’s floor. The code check works the same way when a shopper enters a discount code. Both have no network access, and no checkout or shopper data is sent to Floorline.

Who processes the data.

• DigitalOcean, LLC (USA): hosting and database, on servers in the United States.
• Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): encrypted copies of the database, kept for 14 days.
• Resend (USA): delivery of alert emails, including the recipients’ email addresses.
• Slack, if you connect it: the alerts you send there.
• Shopify: billing for paid plans, under Shopify’s own terms and privacy policy.

Areeb Labs does not sell data or share it for advertising. The app has no advertising or analytics trackers.

Retention and deletion.

Data is kept while the app is installed. When you uninstall Floorline, it stops working on your store at once. Shopify sends a deletion request 48 hours later, and everything held for your store is then deleted, unless you have reinstalled the app by that time. Backup copies expire within 14 days after that. Floorline holds no customer data, so customer data requests have nothing to return or erase. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your store’s data or for its deletion.

Security.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and backups are stored encrypted. Only Areeb Labs has access to the systems that run Floorline.

Your responsibilities.

You are responsible for the prices and pricing claims in your store, including any price suggestion you apply. Suggested markdowns don’t add compare-at prices or sale wording. Floorline’s checks and suggestions are not legal advice.
